The Role:
Our client is looking for a dynamic and driven Data Engineer to join our talented Analytics Team. In this role, you will be at the heart of our data-driven initiatives, working alongside cross-functional teams to design and optimise scalable data pipelines, automate reporting processes, and support key business decisions.

Key Responsibilities:
Azure Migration Responsibilities-

  • Lead Azure Migration Projects: Spearhead the transition of on-premises data systems to Azure, ensuring a smooth migration process and maintaining optimal system performance post migration.
  • Design & Develop Data Pipelines: Maintain scalable, efficient data pipelines that align with the analytics team's needs, supporting seamless data flow across the system.
  • System Integration & Reporting: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate new operating systems into existing reporting structures, ensuring accurate, consistent data management and reporting.
  • Automation Implementation: Develop and implement automation solutions that streamline data engineering tasks, reducing manual intervention and boosting overall team efficiency.
  • Data Quality Control: Establish and maintain high standards of data quality, implementing controls that ensure reliable, accurate data across all processes.

Strengthening Capability-

  • Multi-Product Area Collaboration: Partner with teams from Public Service Obligation (PSO), Schools, and Commercial sectors to manage and prioritise complex projects in alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams and other departments to plan and execute data engineering projects that enhance internal tools, systems, and data pipelines, driving better performance and innovation.
  • Scalable Solutions Development: Collaborate with Technology and Business teams to design and implement scalable solutions for reporting, pipeline automation, dashboard development, and key infrastructure monitoring, ensuring the system supports ongoing product growth and performance metrics.

Stakeholder Management and Influence-

  • Effective Communication: Present clear, actionable insights from data analysis to diverse stakeholders, tailoring the message to their level of understanding and decision-making needs.
  • Influencing Stakeholders: Drive the adoption of key recommendations by influencing stakeholders across various levels, including senior leadership, ensuring alignment with organisational goals.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Handle any other ad-hoc tasks and responsibilities that align with team and organisational needs.

Key Skills and Knowledge:

  • Master's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related quantitative field coupled with hands on experience is essential.
  • Azure Data Fundamentals (DP900) certification as a minimum requirement
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills, with a strong ability to tackle complex data challenges and derive actionable insights.
  • Expertise in Azure services, including Synapse, Data Factory, SQL, Python, and advanced data modelling techniques.
  • Deep understanding of data architecture principles, ensuring the design and implementation of scalable, efficient, and maintainable data systems.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical analyses into clear, precise, and actionable insights for diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience in data migration from fragmented, siloed systems to a modern data lake or cloud-based architecture.
